Finished Night Springs & Lake House on the Pro in Quality mode was great. Definitely looked better than OG PS5 playing the campaign. Love the analysis DF.

It doesn't matter how pretty quality mode is I will never accept 30fps on my £800 console. I only bought the pro so I could actually get 60fps in a fidelity that was acceptable for 2024

About people thinking you can get better performance with a high refresh rate display at 1080p. The PS5 will display only up to 120hz, regardless if your display can go above that. If it has VRR then it will use that too. The implementation will depend on each game as PS5 doesn't have low framerate compensation so if the framerate drops below 48 (let's say 47 fps) instead of using 94 fps to keep the motion smooth it will have screen tearing. The games will be rendered in the same base resolution but displayed in 1080 or if they are rendered on a lower resolution they will be upscaled to your display resolution. A game will have the same performance when shown on a 4k TV than on a 1080 monitor as the rendered resolution is the same. It's not like a pc where you can drop resolution and get better FPS. You are not changing the render resolution just the display resolution.

I’m not sure how to explain this but lately I’m starting to appreciate the relative smoothness of a stable 30fps? Something about the stability is just satisfying to me.

i love remedy but i wish they sold more games, they need more tech devs, it is impressive what they done with the income but they are no insomniac

DF just does not get it with console players. They will never chose 30fps quality mode even with RT.
60 fps smoother game play comes above all else and 60fps performance mode does not use RT in newer games.
30fps with RT is ok if you stand still and do not move in the game .

maaan, I can't really see a difference between these versions. And honestly, sometimes it actually looks much better on the base PS5... Like at 3:06 with this distracting instability of added reflections to the matt wooden wall... Such a miniscule upgrade. Def. not worth it for me.

40 fps needs to be the new standard, most people have 120hz panels so can we please just kill 30fps off for good.

The reflection are ridiculously bad without RT and the water, I've literally just played half like 2 and the water/reflections looks better on that 20year old game than is does on this game.

Interesting, to be fair I still prefer my base PS5, the incentives of pro is not that great at all

The fact that a consoles can have RT should be impressive enough, there's too many whiners here. It's not for casuals.

We need an industry standard to aim for 60fps these days. 30fps is not cinematic. Thats a myth. It is Sh1te on a large TV. Imagine paying £830 for the console and drive and stand and to still be getting the dogs dirt of 30fps. 😂

Why Olie look like Kane with his mask off!? It look like he wearing eyeliner 😂

While its a nifty addition, its not for me.

I'll choose framerate over graphics every time.

After seeing this video I'm actually a bit more impressed with the Pro and a bit more lenient on AW2, I personally think this game would thrive better on another engine I think UE5 shouldn't be on consoles yet it doesn't seem well optimised imo and seems to have issues on PC also I'm yet to see a game we're UE5 doesn't have issues, but the Pro being comparable to DLSS on max settings at 4K, for a console is very impressive and the bits like artifacts etc will probably get cleaned up with its AI machine learning as the console learns and evolves, hopefully this and Silent Hill 2 get it sorted so it's sweet, you have to reign in your expectations a bit with consoles naturally but ngl I'm more impressed after seeing this video and truthfully I was expecting to feel a bit more negatively, even just using it to make games look sharper and run better without RT is a bonus, BO6 would look even better with a cleaner presentation alone

Hardware unboxed did a whole video on ray tracing and found only like 5 gamew really benefits from the tech. Even global illumination that alex likes so much completely breaks lighting in scenery. Like the black rooms inside witcher 3. I'm very happy I went pc to have these options not forced on my system

I hope DF does a piece on the upscaling in the new 2.0.0 update for the MGS Master Collection.

30 fps is like a shite sandwich no amount of RT mustard will make it taste good .

Did not the Ps1, ps2 ps3 and Ps4 play at 30fps? It almost 2025 time to 30fps to lay beside the VCR in the grave.

I wouldnt make up my decision for a game that was made for nobody. If nobody can run these "modern" game releases then wtf is the point of buying new hardware? The fact that I can't get 60fps on these "modern" titles in native resolution, without using DLSS is a joke. When I ran monster hunter wilds beta it is insane to me that a machine with a ryzen 5950x and an rtx 4070 ti oc could not get 60fps at 4k or 1440p natively. The highest i ever got was in the 40fps range from a +$2, 000 PC. The PS5 pro does not fix the problem, its an industry problem.
