The 10 Best Places in Washington You Should Move To

Wow! These cities are totally awesome but REALLY expensive what the heck!

Washington is one of the fastest growing states and for mostly good reason. While a lot of people are leaving Seattle once and for all, it’s not the WORST place you can live. Although the politics here suck and crime is bad and it’s really expensive. But there’s more to the state of Washington than just Seattle, come on now.

However, it’s SUPER expensive here. The state’s average household income is $73,000 and the average home here is worth about $452,000 and going up all the time, so you’re gonna have to make sure you have a good job if you come here. That’s just how it is on the west coast.

Despite the home prices, this state continues to grow fast. So if you’re thinking of moving there, you’re not alone.

To measure the best cities to live in Washington, we have to use two things - data and opinion. We’ve looked at a bunch of data, you know - crime, poverty, the quality of schools and home prices. Plus, we took into account YOUR opinion - that’s right - you had a lot to say about which places in your city are great and which are not so great. Let’s get started.

Born and raised in the greater Seattle area, and I have to agree with the crowding and cost; this is no longer the place that I grew up in, that wasn't over-crowded, was safe and affordable. I bought my house in a small town south of Seattle in 2014 for around 250K and it's now valued at around 550K, which I personally find ridiculous. But it is what it

I moved to Spokane about 6 years ago after a year on the West side. I thought I would never have to move again. Now I'm priced out. There's really no place in WA that's inexpensive any longer. Even places like the Tri-Cities, where people used to run screaming from when they saw it, are now highly desirable. Good luck to all of us!

I moved to Woodinville (near Bellevue) in 1999. Paid just over $350k for my house (on about 1/2 acre). Sold it five years later for $500k. The price now is about $1.2 million. It’s ridiculous!

I live in Washington and work as a foundation worker let me tell yall, people come here hoping its cheap and it really isnt if u dont have a job that pays well, or have experience in a trade, your not going to have a good time in this state and ive been living here my whole life.

Spent most my life around these parts, let me clear a lot of this up for yall:

Bellevue: Rich snobby asians; unless you got cash, just give it a pass.

Brier: Actually a nice place to be for now but, the bubble is bursting.

Mill Creek: Don't be fooled. The traffic here is FUCKING TERRIBLE, and it's boundaries are blurred with surrounding cities so "20k residents" is a gross underestimation.
Just don't.

Snoqualmie: The falls is beautiful but.... be prepared for meth meth and more meth.

Redmond: Rich snobby white transgender microsoft workers.

Lake Forrest Park: Old mildewy homes, high crime, and very low socio-economic opportunity.

Sammamish: You can't afford it, and people are disconnected from reality.

Mercer Island: Unless you're 65+ or a trust fund baby... it aint happening.

This video would be better titled “nicer parts of the greater Seattle area”

I grew up in West Seattle, from age 10-15, my parents bought a two story 3 bedroom house for $85.00/ month, they had 9 children, life back then was peaceful and friends were easy to come by, but people from Southern California sold their million dollar houses and bought 3 houses in Seattle, thereby driving up realty prices, and destroying a great bedroom community, now I call it LA with rain!!!

I've lived here 52 years and it was a much happier place back when it was politically moderate. Now it's just constant in your face far left policies that have a lot to do with real estate prices so expensive, housing shortages and sky rocketing crime. I call it California JR. I still love it here but doubt I will retire here.

Is there a state without “bad politics”? Where in this country do the politics not “suck”?

What? Mill Creek is way closer to Seattle than Canada.

Mill Creek resident here. Beautiful, nice place for family, a lot of parks and walking trails but if you have to commute to Bellevue or Seattle to work 9-5, be prepared to be stuck in traffic average close to two hours a day.

I have lived in most states west of the Mississippi River, but I was born and raised in Washington. I came back here to raise a family. But I have always lived around 100 miles away from Seattle. That’s the sweet spot- close enough to drive to a baseball or football game but far enough to not get the urban crazies. My brother lived in the Willamette valley and he said the same thing about Portland. Live close enough to visit but far enough away to not deal with urban problems.

I can't believe you skipped KIRKLAND Washington. Former home of Costco and included in its branding. On the water, artsy, and just plain nice place to live. Kind of spendy though.

I grew up and was raised in Madison Connecticut. I spent 7 years in Salt Lake City Utah and just moved to Walla Walla Washington. I couldn't be happier. Feels so nice to get back to a small town vibe, where people wave at one another. <3 Walla Walla is the perfect small town in Washington State that is NO WHERE near Seatle. I wouldn't change a thing.

It caught me off guard when Mill Creek showed up! My ancestors have lived in Mill Creek and in the area for decades, centuries.. (btw that was my go-to starbucks at 3:40 in the town center)

I love living here. But y’all would hate it. It rains everyday and it’s grey. You won’t make friends. You’ll hate the politics. No sun. Don’t come! Bye!

I grew up in Spokane before moving to Boise. Not for everyone, but it was a fun place to grow up. The big drawback is that all political power is concentrated in Seattle and you will have no meaningful say in anything that happens in the state and you won't live to see one dime of your tax dollars ever put to use.

I think that New York, Illinois and California show that one huge city can ruin a whole state. Seattle is dragging down Washington. Portland drags Oregon down. Next is Boise to drag down Idaho.

Washington also brought us Amazon and Costco and Boeing.
