Horizon Forbidden West - Why It's The Ultimate Open World Experience

Horizon Forbidden West comes to PS4 and PS5 on the 18th of February, so Ash has managed to pull herself away from playing it just long enough to talk us through why it's the ultimate open world experience. I've been gaming for around 35 years, and HZD is by far one of my top 3 favorite games of all time. To say I've been looking forward to Forbidden West is a HUGE understatement. Friday can't get here fast enough. On a side note, I'm hoping Sylens remains an antagonist going forward simply because Lance Reddick is great in that role.

Just finishing my second play through of Horizon zero Dawn right now to brush up on all the Lore and gameplay before Horizon forbidden west came out. Horizon zero dawn is a masterpiece in my opinion and I can’t wait to see how they refined it! not to mention seeing it run in all of its glory on the PS5.

It is just insane how much time I've lost to both HFW and Elden Ring. And those are the only 2 games I've been playing since each of their respective releases, both games are so massive and content filled that there's no point introducing a third game into the rotation. These two games have so much amazing content that it's made me disregard anything and everything else I was playing beforehand. All of my free time is now split between Guerilla Games and Fromsoftware, and even though it's pretty overwhelming most of the time, I couldn't be happier about being so addicted to not just one, but two absolutely massive, immersive, beautiful gaming experiences. What an amazing time to be a gamer. Even in my wildest dreams, 5 year old me could have never fathomed gaming being as amazing as this.

Preordered the physical PS4 version. The next day I was able to get a PS5 digital! Went to GameStop right after to get it changed. H:FW will be my first PS5 game purchased!!

I'm normally an advocate of "never pre-order" because of all the pitfalls but I made an exception with this because Guerilla clearly have a great ethos with quality which showed with HZD and clearly is still there with HFB.
(Shame the cost of games is so high now though that I had to buy the PS4 version and get the free upgrade to PS5 to afford it which means waiting to install and then get the update 🤷‍♂️)

I’m 27 hours in and it’s such an amazing game. There have been a few bugs but nothing game breaking yet. Also side missions feel just as meaningful and none feel repetitive.
