The difference between trivial and non-trivial solutions is an important one. A trivial solution is a solution that is obvious and easy to find. A non-trivial solution, on the other hand, is a solution that is not so easy to find.

Mam I think even in the first method, of finding trivial solution (actually non trivial) b cannot be anything but 8. Because we considered that DetA= 0, calculating and equating determinant to zero will give b=8
