Lowrance Hook 5 Triple Shot BUYER BEWARE!!

I spent $399 plus tax at Cabelas on my Lowrance Hook2 5 TripleShot. I expected it to last. After a year and a week after being installed, the sonar no longer functions. I understand a warranty is a warranty, and when it’s out it’s out. I just expect better from Lowrance! Buyer beware!

Same thing happened with my hook7 tripleshoot. Stayed on the phone with tech Support for over an hour, did the update and still the same thing. Was told I could buy a new transducer and unit from them at no discount. Thanks for the Video. You save me from more headaches. I think I'm going with a Hummingbird next. Thanks again for the video.

Stubbled upon this video while doing research to replace my older Lowrance. The reason I'm replacing my older HDS7 is because of this same issue. So glade you uploaded this video. That level of customer service makes me sick. I'll give Garmin my business

I have a Hook 7 triple shot and did the same exact thing that you are describing. It's just been over a year but only used maybe 5 trips to the lake and now this. Starting to have my doughs about Lowrance dependability.

My Hook 5 did the same thing. I bought a new transducer too, which did not help. Occasionally while out on the water it starts working for a few seconds. I guess i will replace it eventually, but with another brand.

Open it and check for corrosion on the circuit board. Also check the soldering for the transducer connector on the circuit board.

I hit a stump while trolling maybe 2 or 3 mph and it grazed the transducer and now it is doing all of this. Transducer wasn’t damaged and was still clicking but I couldn’t find any other reason it wasn’t working right so I bought a new transducer off of Amazon, but am still getting the same results.

My hook 2 9 frequently gets different colored lines and stops reading depth in the lake. I took it to River and it only did that once. Frequent at the lake. They said they replaced head but it did the same thing after the second trip. Replaced the transducer but it still does it. Sucks I spent 869.00

I had a hook2 double shot and it worked great so I bought the triple shot nothing but problems.

Same thing happened to my Hook 7, these things are a absolute rip off. I have been. On the phone with tech support since day one, didn't matter. They wanted $217.00 to fix. Only attempted to use it 10 times on the water. DO NOT BUY LOWRANCE!

Exact same problem with mine. Have been placed on hold for over two hours and still haven’t been able to reach tech support. My unit is only 4 months old, hopefully I can get a replacement

I know how you feel. I have been having nothing but trouble with mine it doesn’t show fish on the screen anymore

We ALL are having problems with our units and it seem like lowrance is not trying to do anything about it. Somebody at that place know whats going on and should step up and help us damn

Mine did this when I messed with the color line settings, put it back to default auto and the problem stopped

I have the same issue it has never worked. they exchanged the unit still didn't work. bought a new transducer no joy. the 1st unit i had didn't have inland maps but every thing else worked fine. They exchanged it for one with inland maps and it never worked again. lost 2 years and 600 dollars (they charged me for shipping) never again.

I would be pissed as well. But what people dont understand is the mass production of units leads to things like resistors frying and solder points on boards failing. I agree with your frustration but these companies are in it for the money. They never help out the little guy like us. Also I used to work 10 years for Best Buy in 12 volt installations. We had a policy to pull radios out of a vehicle for free. Most units would always have something wrong with them after moving into another vehicle. It was crazy stupid. I feel your pain.

I just bought same Hook2 5. Now seeing your video I'll know what to expect when the orange screen of death appears. Wish I would have seen it sooner and thanks for posting. Was thinking of getting 2nd tripleshot transducer to mount on 2nd kayak. Since you have two - care to make a deal?

I have a hook 5 up front and an Elite TI at the dash. Both have issues. Both Al were new in 2019. $1300 in lowrance units that barely function. I’m pissed. They gave me the same excuses on the phone. I’m never buying their garbage again
