This is the very first piece which opened the door for the sacred baroque music interest in me. Thank you! Thank you!

So many people think that the Gospel is hard to live because his righteousness and the law of God, BUT, our Lord Jesuschrist realeased us of the deuty of comply it by ourselves, fulfilling it HIMSELF for us, just for love, THAT'S THE REASON why his yoke is easy and his burden is light.

Was is a joke of Handel's, to set the word "easy" to notes that are very difficult to sing?

What a marvelous piece of music. And beautifully performed. Difference between Bach and Handel? Handel is danceable!

Handel really threw down the gauntlet here, but Gardiner's interpretation works for me because, unlike most other interpretations out there that know from the words they should sound easy and light, his version achieves the necessary fleetness through speed and phrasing. The melismas just don't work in this piece unless they feel like a single, effortless gesture taking us to what is musically important, i.e., the pair of detached four-note phrases that complete the statement. Too slow and too prominent is fatal. Under Gardiner's baton easy-breezy does it.

Wow! Incredible to hold it together at that crazy tempo. I like it to move but whats the rush? Somebody had to catch a plane? Otner than proving it can be done, how can it be justifyied? (Cant justify Klemperer & Beecham going so slow either)
