Isaiah 53 : 4-5 "Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed."

TO GOD ALONE BE ALL THE GLORY. Handel Proved that Jesus is The Messiah. Hallelujah. Amen.

In times of grief as the loss of a loved one, surely and truly He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows on that cross of Calvary. Beautiful rendition! So timely too. God bless.🌹

This is such a wonderful piece and a good reminder of Isaiah 53 - "He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities."

One of my absolute FAVORITES from "Messiah", that I first played in 1966 in the University Orchestra, SDSU, where I studied as a cello major. My husband sang in the tenor section while I was in the cello section. I love the suspensions and rhythms of this piece.

Wonderful rendition of Isaiah 53 who prophesied of the Messiah by describing His humiliation and sufferings and how He makes His soul an offering for sin and makes intercession for the transgressors (you and I).

My favorite chorus from the Messiah--all the incredible tension and release, amazing!

God raised up a composer, Handel, who would proclaim this precious promise of God and the glorious work of the Messiah as magnificently as they deserve to be orchestrally. Heavenly.

Isaiah 53
4. Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.

too big choir. Handel wrote Messiah for a choir of 25 singers. The sound is too dark because of the so many voices...

Agree that is is too fast and also the choir too big. It's very dramatic and powerful and about being wounded, bruised and punished and is marked Largo. A nice sound but no drama in the way they sing. Mechanical. A smaller choir could inject some drama / some pain esp in 'the chastisement ... ' part.
