Our yorkie was teacup sized....I think he topped out at 4lbs, haha. Of course he thought he weighed 150lbs by his attitude....he had NO idea how small he was, haha.

My teacup Yorkie weighted only 2.8 pounds. She passed away at the age of 14. Tanking care of her was difficult but I loved every moment of it. I am about to get a standard size Yorkie soon because in time of sickness teacup is really weak. My advice is don’t get a teacup unless you have a lot of times and patience.

I have a small Yorkie that l adopted 10 yrs ago she has developed a collapsed trackier .she is to small to survive an operation. To breed dogs that are to small to help when deeded is cruel.

You mean breed appropriate size v. oversize? The Yorkshire Terrier breed standard tops out at 7 lbs in adulthood. Many are 3-5 lbs. They are already a teacup size dog without anything special being done. The big one is oversize and will exceed the breed standard in adulthood.

There’s a reason why one is referred to as ‘normal’. Breeding tinier and tinier versions of already tiny dogs is simply BAD breeding with a multitude of problems which will be passed through generations. I own a small dog, without considering the teacup phenomena, the dog considered the smallest of all breeds, a Chihuahua. He is not yet fully grown but is on target to be within breed standards. Just like his parents, and theirs….

Why do people breed these dogs? They have loads of health problems. Why breed a dog for cuteness?
