Ibach are one of the oldest and highly respected makers, always striving for excellence. They are also innovative. This piano has unique and useful capstan adjusters combined with a tied action, a una corda that shifts to the left instead of the right, a roller on the una corda spring to aid insertion of the action and other well-thought-out ideas.

More importantly, it is a very warm toned piano with responsive touch.

The first time I met one of these was in a church in an amazingly rural area in Worcestershire, a very short distance from our industrial "Black Country, " which is only a stone's throw
away. It was in St Peters, Kinver. I spent half an hour trying to work out how some piano mover must have put it back together wrongly. After trying every usual suspect I had to conclude that it had been made this way. This was later confirmed for me by the charming Sabine Ibach, ( yes a relative!). They all worked that way. It is photographed in my book, The Haynes Piano Manual. I tuned it regularly for some years. It appeared to have been rebuilt at some point in its life as many of the hitch pins were left redundant. It had been restrung the English way with the string serving twice. The hitch pin washers had been left off in the rebuild leaving a wonderful shroud of Turin effect where you could see the brighter circular patch around the hitch pins. Presumably to increse downbearing a little. It seemed to have worked. It was very loud.

Another demonstration of how most of the German pianos are so superior. I barely recognised the Ibach name, but the instrument's sweet yet strong sound is just what I like best, the more so in a baby grand!

They do seem to have a more breathy sound than modern pianos. Maybe due to lighter hammers and the whole soundboard structure seems thinner or more ethereal.

It's nice to see this assessment and most interesting to see the sections of strings between agraffes and tuning pins. I have been prejudiced against Ibach in the past - sound good but the two instruments I've tuned have had the strings coming up from the agraffes at a hideously sharp angle, leading to metal fatigue and breakage in old strings and requiring an exacting tuning technique. But this instrument seems to have a gentler slope as perhaps the early 20th century Broadwoods, so here an instrument that looks good.

What an incredibly beautiful sounding piano. Is there a video for after restoration?

Hello Mr.robert, I have question about perzina upright pianos, I know that perzina is Chinese company but it's sound is similar to bechstein and Hoffman pianos like European sound. but for friendly budget, I want to know do perzina uprights have good quality like Hoffman pianos? And after afew years (5 years) can hold tuning and quality and beauty of sound like a new one?
