The thing in the dsg is that, the megatronic that selects the gears gets very confused. This leads to warning lights popping up like street lights in Vegas. When it's confused, the car goes into what it says is limp mode, when it's in limp mode it doesn't release or give all the power. So basically the power becomes limited. Another issue a with the megatronic is that it really gets confused by weather, when it's like cold, it will get very faulty leading to a very horrible driving experience or not select the drive gear at all(this was rare but it's becoming very common). Another problem with a faulty megatronic is that it has a challenge upshifting from first to second, so it will take longer to shift and when it does it will make a huge "glug" like like sound. And the issue you mentioned of vibration when in first is not exempted. I spoke to Adam Ford months ago about this transmission, who is one of the best mechanics in SA and he guarantees that after around 60k/kms these issues become inevitable. The best thing to do is that you enjoy it for around 80k/kms and trade it in for something more sensible and better. Or look for a one that comes in a manual. Ohh I know this because we have a 2009 Touran and we've spent a lot of money taking it to the mechanic and we've spent like 30k so far, some people claim to have payed around 30-50k randala's(rands) on these trips to the mechanic. I remember this one lady who owns a golf 5 said she actually paid over R40k and was now selling it. Which I was against and advised her to atleast own it for another 30k/kms and then sell it, right before it starts being problematic again. Some other issues I did not mention because they are petty but yea.

One of the reasons I went with a manual transmission cheaper to fix lesser issues more engagement in driving experience. I hear DSG I run.

I think it's time to invest in an OBD reader, especially for these German cars. Maybe they can reset the transmission by clearing the fault codes stored.

I have a same car, between clutch and mechatronic the is a fault. what i did i bought new clutch kit at Goldwagen and rebuild my mechatronic i paid about 30k. The best thing to do is get it diagnosed it will tell you exactly where the problem is.

My Mk7 Golf SEL (2015) is equipped with 1.8T + conventional Aisin 6AT. It's logged almost 140K miles on it; however, it's still going strong without major issues. The timing chain, tensioner, and all cooling system were addressed by the previous owner. The intake manifold and valves were cleaned up. Flushed ATF three times along with a fresh filter when I purchased it. Very smooth shifts at any speeds. A little bit skeptical about VW products but so far so good after 18 months ownership. Will keep it for a while:)

😬 that gearbox issue seems to be the Mechatronic unit which is bust, costed my mum 44k to be done, quite a steep issue
