Actually, panicking and a variation on your ice bath finally got my ring off. My wedding ring had been on my finger since 1989. Yesterday, I suddenly started having stabbing pain in that finger (not sure why) so I removed it with a bit of olive oil. I promptly put the ring on my right hand to avoid losing it. This morning I woke up with a swollen right hand and the ring uncomfortably tight. Tried the olive oil method again with no luck. Found your video and proceeded to try other lotions, potions, ice water, and the dental floss method (twice). Still stuck. At this point my husband called a friend with lots of tools and they brought out various scary metal-cutting scissors that looked more likely to take off my entire finger. So I put my entire right hand in a bowl of ice water sitting on a shelf above my head for about 15 minutes — to hopefully reduce the swelling and numb my hand. Then using more olive oil and about 10 minutes of painfully digging my nails around the ring to turn it, I was finally able to work it over my knuckle. Two hours later, the finger still hurts but I did avoid going to the ER, which is about an hour away! Thanks for your video and I hope the ice on the shelf method helps someone else.
