Guys show some love to Kasey. This cover has 10s of millions of views on reaction channels, but the original on her own channel has less than a million views. So swing by and give her a view and a like.

You never thought you would hear a legendary Aussie country singer playing a banjo turn the greatest rap song ever into a rock anthem!

Kasey Chambers is an Australian legend: the youngest person to be inducted into the Australian Music Hall of Fame, a dozen albums and has more than 30 ARIA Awards (the AU Grammy's). She is beloved but is ignored by radio and was shunned by Sony. She's been performing in her father's band since she was 12 years old (her dad is on the steel guitar on stage here). She had some pop hits in the 90s but her heart and soul is Country in her own style.

She wanted to commemorate the 20th anniversary of this song because she loves Eminem, and she had the time to rearrange and compose this masterpiece during lockdown. She is showing so much emotion because she has lived this to a degree as well. At the time of recording she was 46 years old and is a mother of three.

This recording is the first time it was ever performed live and was done at the end of the concert. They thought it went well, so they used the recording from the sound desk and asked their fans who were in attendance to provide any footage they had to composite this one together. While there has been no public approval from Em, she has been allowed to put this song up on Spotify without challenge.

Firstly let give props to the stones it takes to cover the biggest rap song in history from the greatest rapper in history. a song that won an Oscar and everyone alive has heard the original. Then to drop this masterpiece is something special, the creativity to take the song to a whole new level of emotion. Eminem was a millionaire telling his story after the fact more as an inspirational tale of keep dreaming and reaching for that dream. This version delivered the same story but gave the same lyrics a whole new level of the pain of that struggle, the life regrets of chasing your dream and missing out on life's other joys and commitments, then the anger at how one dream reaching crushes the dreams of people you miss out on. The steady build throughout is nothing short of perfection. I was so happy to see you finally put this on. I consider this probably the best live cover I have ever seen in my life.

that wasn't a cover - it was a total transformation !!!

I'm inclined to agree this is the "most unique cover ever" on the thumbnail. For about the last five decades I'd have nominated Patti Smith's cover of Van Morrison's 'Gloria' for that title, but Kasey's version of this song transforms the original to another dimension.

Stepped into a Kasey Concert did ya!? 😂
Just one of the best Singer/ Songwriters Australia has ever produced. Won pretty much every Award going here, and deservedly so.
I'm glad you mentioned Ren in the same frame. Casey is also a groundbreaking Soryteller who transcends genres.
Enjoy exploring more of her work - & Hi from down here on a beautiful misty morning, after a thundery night, on the banks of the Derwent River near Hobart, Tasmania. 😊

Next on your Aussie path is John Farnham "Help" with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. A vocal masterclass.

Thank you for listening to the whole thing before commenting on her vocalisations, cadence and arrangement. It also needs to be remembered that this was live, not some studio arranged and composed version. Kasey is amazing.

Who knew that what this song needed was a lap steel and power cords in a banjo?!

Fantastic cover, she makes it her own and feels every word because she has lived every word!
Someone already suggested this but I'm going to say it also. One of the best covers ever is John Farnham covering The Beatles' Help with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra... just brilliant!

Great emotional reaction to her, and this! I’ve since become a Kasey Chambers fan…she’s incredible! Her rhythm makes you realize how incredibly brilliant a writer Eminem is….staggering. Two geniuses individually coming together here. Well done!!
