After 40 hours on the #TransSiberian railway travelling east across the beautiful plains of south #Siberia we arrived into the mysterious city of #UlanUde the capital of the Republic of #Buryatia in the Russian Far East.

Also, I feel fortunate to be traveling vicariously with people so familiar with Russian culture and language, as well as British culture. As an American with Croatian and English ancestors, it's particularly interesting. 🥰

It's kinda sad that you've been only in centre of UU, because video shows only small wooden buildings, so people might think that's how the whole city looks, which is not true of course :) Also comeback to visit Lake Baikal, but in July or August, it's a magical place.

Woah, I am from Ulan-Ude! Right now i'm not in the city, but i can recommend you some places if you are still there.)
First of all you should visit Ivolginskii Datsan. It is the center of Buddhism in Russia. There is unbelievable aura. Then, of course you must visit Baikal lake. I would prefer Goryachinsk village, because there is easy way to the beach (well snow beach) to get walk on a ice surface. Damn it, if I wasn't in Moscow I would definetely be your personal guide.)
P.S. You must try to taste "Хошхоног"[Hoshkhonog] and "Орёомог"[oryomog]. You can try them at seafront in the city in restaurant "Тэмулэн" [Temulen]. It is our national dishes.
