The Megabuild Project - 37 - Coastal Cottage: Seeing What Sticks

Tackling the main broken house this time around was an unexpected handful, for real, and the results are... decidedly mixed. This is one of those builds that you look at it and think, "Yeah, it works, but yeah, it's not what I was after, and yeah, I'm not quite sure why."

Which means, of course, ripping a good chunk of it down later, then fiddling with what's left a whole bunch until it starts making some sense.

I'm still trying to figure out where the sweet spot is on sound balance and volume, but this should be a bit closer--if it's too much or too little or just plain weird, please let me know?

Thanks for watching.

I agree that Bethesda did a great job with Dogmeat and the Kellogg quest, they did a wonderful job on this whole game!
Funny about the ghoul kidnapping lol
Love the build :):)

Oh boy, how I hate building around that house. I was able to glitch in an entire 2 story structure over the whole thing, and it looks like it was rebuilt, but what a pain it is. You did a pretty good job of working around it though, I am sure you will find a good way to deal with the gap at the bottom. I look forward to seeing your next series using the 3, 7, 11 mechanic, I think it does a great job of adding a lot of interest in how a settlement would naturally develop.

We are now up to 15 participants as well, it has actually grown a little bit over the weekend, so that is cool too. Take care my friend.

This one is always tricky. My last play through I focused on making a watch tower covering that long road. Everything else was built around it. Anyways I really enjoy your videos and have been lurking for some time. Keep up the good work.

Workbench Anywhere works indoors :) I built a little outpost inside Holy Mission Congregation by Diamond City!

PS4 has subway runner. Plenty of baddies to hunt in there and by University point there is a little settlement of people living underground but no workbench to build there. Just drop a workbench anywhere grenade and its pretty sweet.

21:28 Yes, but sadly I can#t recall the mod, it also enabled some spots in F4 that had a workbench but with disabled or brocken settlement function so it even added up some settlements at spots where non where suposed to be "Workbench -something something" So sorry I can not look it up to the overload of mods I have on track

Your plot idea with Danse wouldve fit in great with the institute storyline. Before the final attack on the brotherhood you have to reclaim Danse to get access to his tactical knowledge & then wipe or kill him at your pleasure

I don't know about xb1 but there is a work bench anywhere mod by Andrewcx I believe works indoors cells

Coastal cottage is my arch nemesis, nothing want to glitch properly and the house has weird proportions (all houses are built with the same floor size as we have in the build menu except this one) I've tried to fix it before but it's no looking as I'd like it to so I might gve it another try.

Loco4Pack's challenge is a really interesting one, building early level is definitely a challenge especially without using duplication glitches. I must say roleplaying it makes it even more interesting imo and there's so great roleplayer in this challenge, I'm thinking of Japic O'death, Sushikat Gamer, Joodah and Loco4Pack and I hope I don't miss others. I've came with the same conclusion there's definitely 3 ways challengers have been building so far and it's all around pre-existing buildings, no one started building in the middle of nowhere. I'm getting really exciting about it and I'm looking forward to seeing what you came up with in the next update video =)

You're right about Danse, using it with the institute would have been fun and would have add a lot of depth to the interaction between factions, I would like to have more of an alliance between the railroad and the minutemen too by bringing Preston there and have some unique dialogues. I'd like to build in Danse's bunker as well.

I like what you've built here and I'm impressed about how soft is your snapping, is that the mod you're using that gives you that possibility?

Great video =)

I used Tim Tinman's workbench and rebuilt the lower level where you take the elevator down. It was coming along until my game crashed. Not sure why, may want to consider using Andrewcx's workbench. I'm telling you Sar it's spookie how similar our thought processes are! I know your on Xbox and I'm on PS4. I have always built off of any pre-existing buildings even in Sanctuary, just can't help myself. Why build 4 walls when you only need 3, right!

As far as I’ve tried it is possible to use conquest within interiors

If there is a small red toolbox at danse's place then workshop toolbox by govnowriter will let you build and scrap inside if you want to make a player home but not a settlement

your comments about Danse: i don't think you're weird or crazy. in a similar experiment, i tried to "reformat" Preston. results were... disappointing. so much blood...

Nawww you have been busy! <3 Like the new Shacks very much, even if i hmmmm don't have -like you say- a real Raider feel about them! Well, at least not the usual Commonwealth Idiots - i think this a bit more structured vibe there would fit the Operators very good, if they would be forced to build something up there! So, it's good, i like it (= hach, I HATE this stupid house...lol I think the next time i will build there i will just scrap it - now that i can do that, buhahahahaha! Oh and PS. if you enjoy Challenges, maybe take a look at CordlessVII Channel; he and his buddy make Challenges too and it sounds like fun too. (= Have a nice one! XD

I definitely get what you mean about how fiddly this place is. You certainly have a different approach on it's repair then I've ever considered (in a good way). I like the wrap around porch, but wish there was an easier way to get up there. Maybe if you tore down one of the front rails, you could add some steps? Might need STS back on for it though.
