Why can't you have the tension act at the same point as the force P? Why does it only act at the pulley?

Thanks so much! Couldn't find an explanation anywhere else.

why tension force is developed right next to the smoothly pully instead of the place where load P is applied along the rope with inclination of 38.7 degree?

i thought tension was the same everywhere? so wouldn't T also be 8kN

I want you to do Q 7-38 from hibbeler 13th Edition

I’m not digging this answer, I don’t see how that specific T is the only one acting on the bar other than the P, would the bar not have P going down then from the same point T going in the direction of the rope, and then an x and y reaction forces from the pulley at the mounting point, then finally Ax and Ay reaction forces at the pin support?

I don’t see how the tension T at the top of the pulley would exert a force on the bar at all, imagine the rope had slack beyond the pulley and you tried to pull it to the right it definitely won’t pull on the bar it would make the pulley spin.

You should've broken the T into two components.
