I’ve pulled hundreds and will continue to if there is no isolator fitted …. Simple as that

You absolutely can pull them. Pure instructor video

I have seen loads of cut seals and you would be able to pull the main fuse and isolate the board as they have already been removed or cut. Alot of older installations do not have a isolator and alot of sparkys dont have patient's to ring the dno and waste another day on the job. Happens all the time

Been struggling to understand TNC-S from my textbooks for ages. Thanks for the video!

The electrical breakdown of air is around 2, 500vdc per inch, that gap is about 1.5” (3, 750vdc) and you’re talking about 240vac which won’t arc across.

Am I missing something here but surely if you had no alternative other than to pull the fuse wouldn't you make sure that there was no load on the system at all

I always cut the seals and take out the main fuse when working. I never reseal and I've been doing it for 45 years.

About pulling the main fuse people need to realise safe isolation is important. Yes but one part of it has never taught us if you can’t have permission to safely isolate you don’t work now. A lot of DNO’s are okay with you pulling the fuse but it is important to know that you can get the metering company fit an isolator if work is going to happen with a couple of weeks notice.

Mate everyone pulls them out I’m a fucking plumber and I’ve pulled them out never arced on me and I don’t know what I’m doing 😂

I once waited for dno to turn up to pull a fuse as the maintenance team for the flats I was working at were adamant that I wasn’t allowed to pull it myself. Dno took 6 hours to arrive.
I’ve pulled the fuckin thing myself ever since 🙄

Quick question (non electrician), why is the earthing block covered on some of these heads? Surely that would mean in order to change a board to the latest regs you'd need to pull the main fuse, despite having a dual pole isolator installed (as the DNO installed in my house).

Seems a bit silly or is there something obvious I am missing?

100amp load only if there is a load turn the board off there's no load

I ask the people who fitted my smart meter about this. Do I have contact you to get the fuse pulled when I upgrade my consumer unit? Nah, the electrician will do it, was the reply.

If i pull the fuse I'd fit the Dp isolator before I replace the fuse .

A question why would there be an arc in the cut out?

DNO yeah we can use 12mm2 aluminium but FU you better use 25mm2 copper

How can it draw 100 amps if your loads are isolated? Some of your words used in your vids remind me of people who have studied the world of electricity but not really understood it.

Trust me I backfeed subs every week for my job and you would be surprised how little load is actually being pulled from a couple of hundred houses. No domestic house supply will ever pull 100amps and if they did DNO pillar fuses would be blowing all the time!
