know I won't get much love for this but...if the cut out looks in good condition I'm pulling it all day long!

if no isolator is fitted then of course pull the fuse, safety first, then deny it, simple

It is worth knowing that he can fall apart so if the DNO allows you to pull the fuse under certain conditions it’s worth registering for that some people seem to believe safe isolation is a right to pull this fuse. It quite simply is not one thing that’s not sorted if you can’t work safe don’t

Pull fuse with rubber gloves on if it looks sound If not call supplier

I can't remember who it was, maybe it was efixx... Anyway, they suggested that a possible solution could be to allow electricians to do a course with the DNO to prove they were competent enough to pull fuses. I thought that was a decent enough Idea

I'm NI, generally here I'll pull the fuse and fit an isolator myself. NIE generally don't have an issue if you phone them up and say found a fusecarrier needs resealing.
If you mention the meter needs resealing however they'll go nuts

Dont know about other dno, but with ssen if you are a registered electrician you can go to the nearest depot (mine in slough) and register to get temporary seals. If you do this then ssen is giving you permission to pull them

Those steel tags are poor quality, they've always fallen off prior to me turning up to site.

I just don’t understand the difference between someone coming out and pulling the fuse to one of us pulling the fuse, we’re all human.

Always fit the isolator myself, cheaper for me to do it than DNO or who ever. Seal back up with generic seals. Never been tracked down after doing it for how ever many years

Wherever I go there’s always an isolater fitted so never have to pull the fuse. Random luck I get 😉

How can either side prove the seal was on there when they got there anyway? Asking for a friend

Weird really because all of mine always seem to have isolators already fitted🤔🙄😂

The problem is with pulling fuses is also the age/type of the cutout and if there is a shared neutral. A lot of the old metal clad cutouts have asbestos and a fuse wire in them and still fused neutrals out there.

I never give it a thought, if I need to pull it I will, no-one really cares

I don't think there an electrician in the country who hasn't pulled, the last isolator I has fitted by western power cost the customer £231+vat.

Doesn't everyone just pull them ???
