by far the best way to manage the strap tail. The best part of this is that the tail can be left alone while the load is being loaded/unloaded. I do this method all the time while hauling multiple mowers and being able to just hook up and ratchet it tight without messing with the tail saves a ton of time.

Another tip, after that you make a loop by running it behind the working end and put the bundle half into the loop and twist it until it gets tight. Probably poorly explained.

I do basically the same thing except I put it over the load side, loop it back around and through and then you flatten out your loop and twist it a bunch of times and the section you put over the load side will cinch down onto the loop so it doesn't sit on your trailer deck or fly around like a flail

Don't need to leave 2 to 3 ft though
It can be done without all that slack.

too much time. When time is money. Fold the strap in half a couple times till its about 16-24” long and feed it through your open ratchet and close is back down onto the folded strap

Just roll it up quick and stick it under the strap between the load and tighten the strap down over it.
