The Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 Ti in 2022 - Worth the High Price?

The Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070ti is a mid-range graphics card launched in June of 2021. Upon release, the 3070 Ti was regarded as a waste of potential and money- however given that the GPU market has since normalized somewhat, is the RTX 3070ti a good offering in this now highly competitive market?

- 192 TMUs & Gen. 3 Tensor Cores
- 96 ROPs
- 256 bit GDDR6X at 19Gbps
- 290W TDP

A GPU is a separate bank of ALUs and FPUs, designed to offload heavily parallelizable calculations from the main CPU onto a dedicated chip. The Graphics Card refers to the entire sub-system, containing the PCB, Memory, and Cooling solution.

Just snatched a laptop with a Ryzen 9 6900 HX and a 3070 Ti after seeing this video. Your explanations are very insightful for people just looking to play, whilst also providing the very simple charts to understand. Seeing as I quite literally don't have a 4k monitor nor plan to get one soon this bad boy will be doing me wonders for many years, hopefully.

I bought this card to see what Night City looked like with ray tracing on a pretty decent 120hz 32inch HDR monitor.
I bought a 3070ti founder's edition.
It replaced a Asus 1080tiOC that was awesome also.
IT was about a 50% increase in framerate but DLSS was a revelation. The quality of those frames was exponentially better.
It was expensive at the time but totally worth it.
I won't be rushing to buy a 4090 until I can afford a high end 4k gaming monitor.
The 3070ti is a great card but I have to say the 1080ti was 90% of the fun with just a fraction of the price right now.
I'd say right now there is no better value card. This is especially true given the latest drivers support ray tracing on the 1080ti and some of the other higher ends cards of that era.

currently use this card. Have had no trouble running anything i play on it at 1440p max or near max settings with above 60fps. Also use it with my 5900x for 2k video editing in premiere which the card has no problem doing. Probably wont be upgrading the card for many years.

Always thought the 3070Ti was in the awkward spot between the Upper-mid-tier and High tier performance brackets. The black sheep of the family stack. (Upper-mid-tier?)

Thank you for actually giving a die breakdown under the hood no one else assess this please do more of this for all the tiers, really gives good background and would make for a fascinating content base, pretty cool since the mainstream glosses over this.

Upgraded from a GTX 1070Ti. I got my RTX 3070Ti for $360, used for less than a month! Still had all the plastics on it! So far I love this card for 1440p! Awesome card.

The only thing holding this card back is the VRAM capacity. I decided to just settle for 8gb of VRAM and this card since the only demanding game I really play that requires VRAM is a heavily modded Bethesda game, which doesn't require much graphical power, it just craves VRAM and good clocks.
Everything else you can get away with at Ultra by just tweaking graphics. If I really needed to, I would just downscale to 1080. It's not that big of a deal, it's just video games. Using 1080 res with DLDSR is the answer if it ever came down to that.

Got the gigabyte 3070 ti and long range still looks horrific i was expecting pure glory, but you still have a advantage over most players depending on the game, i get 130 to 180 fps in most games on high settings with a i7 processor

I got the 3070ti in my new custom cabinet as a recommendation to pair with my i9 (since I really could not afford a 3080) . Never has a desktop with a GPU before (only laptops) and I fell optimistic.

Just recently upgraded a 2 year old PC running a Ryzen 3 3100 with a GeForce 1650 4gb to a 3070ti, paired with a Ryzen 7 5800X3D on a preexisting B550M-A motherboard and ddr4 ram, seems to run most games at 1440p just fine (I play DOTA 2, MW2 and Halo Infinite).

I found the frames inconsistent at max settings using a resolution of 3440x1440 so when launching games I use a resolution switcher and play at 1080p on my 34" Ultra wide. Frames are way more consistent and can play it perfectly at max settings.

I paid $581USD (that's a good price for this card in Australia. No idea what they cost in the USA).

probably just going to get the 3070 I got the 1070ti back in 2018 and while it still definatly holds up still and I am sure the 3070ti would do the same I really cant justify that almost 200 doller increase the 3070 definatly feels like a solid buy though
