Howdy! Here's four simple tricks, tips, hacks to help take your piano playing to the next level. These are probably aimed at basic players but hopefully there might be something in there that could be useful to you.
I've put chapter markers in so that you can jump to the next section if you're already a pro at certain bits.
Hope you enjoy the lesson. Let me know in the comments if you like this sort of thing and want to see more or tell me what you'd like to see from me.

**Apologies for some of the audio issues with the piano, I spotted them too late! I'll do better next time. Sorry!**

Cheers! MK

These 'not beginner but not yet intermediate' lessons are aimed right at my current stage. There's an old saying: 'when the pupil is ready, the teacher will appear'. Thanks Michael. Love the style and content both. I'm going to work the hell out of these tips!

The dry posh nonchalant "okay, that was a bit weird" and then just continue as if that didn't just happen, was the funniest thing i saw today and no one is apparently talking about it 🤣🤣🤣

You've a terrific way of explaining things in a very digestible way. Would love some more videos directed at the beginner/intermediate players.

Michael(Mr Keithson !)..this lesson is gold dust for guitar players who need to play or compose on keys now and then.I have gone through almost all of your You Tube lessons and have really benefitted from your explanations, the way you express Theory, Method and Ideas is brilliant . Came across you by chance after watching Open Studio and you beautifully added to and filled in the holes from those lessons/shorts. Really love the honesty of "Full Time Musician " videos . There is a coffee on the way...keep up the great work, especially the Sweatshirt Alien as we all need more of that everyday . Once again thankyou..Magic!!!!

I'm just a drummer who has been tinkering about on the keys for a little while but man, your content has unlocked a newfound passion for this beautiful instrument. Thank you, good sir!

No way!!! Please stop it. I can't stop laughing at 6:57. If that's not the best way to explain a sustain pedal, what is? Thank you so much! I will remember this if I have to explain it to someone.🤣

Ah. This is probably a better entry point into exploring drop 2. I've been intimidated by all the drop 2 stuff I've seen being used with 7th chords. Three notes might be easier to dip my toe into this. Once again, many thanks.

8:35 talking about little differences that can embellish a song, I think of rubato, and that's basically, playing some notes slightly out of meter, strangely, it can make it sound more natural, less robotic and more expressive, the best part, is that it usually comes with practice and experience!

Wow, You are an excellent teacher. I feel like I’ve been in this cycle of somewhere between beginner and intermediate knowing something’s and missing others. There’s not much on YouTube targeted towards that and since finding your videos, it’s really helped me. Thank you!

Just started playing about two months ago. Im not sure how I ended up here but I’m glad I did. These types of videos are tremendously helpful to me. As a beginner it’s a lot of scales, and chords and theory. Which is good and necessary. But I would love to just sit down and improvise over some chords and have it sound better than just triads over the root.
