The funniest part about chatot for me is that its gimmick led to it being banned in competitive, despite its mediocre stats.

Chatter’s base power was based on the volume of the recorded clip. This encouraged people to scream into the DS as loudly as possible, which makes the gimmick even funnier in practice.

I do recall the subquest in Legends Arceus of a Chatot imitating a guy who is clearly terrified of wild Pokemon, and being a mischievous little guy; it's one of my favorite quests.

They may have robbed Chatot of his gimmick, but they'll never take away his role as Wigglytuff's second in command.

Something I love about the Adventures manga is seeing characters use a pokemon for non competitive reasons. Pearl has a Chatot that helps him and Diamond with some of their comedy routines. And a few times Pearl tells his Chatot to fly over to someone else and spy on them, because Chatot can come back and repeat what it heard.

They could give it it's gimmick back by just having it 'copy' whatever melody it hears on a route and or building, a flying music box basically. It could be cute

I can't see Chatot without thinking of Chatot from the PMD Explorers games where he's this constantly stressed out advisor to the chaotic glee of Wigglytuff.

Chatot’s real gimmick is being a vessel to hold all of the resentment that Exploration Teams have when they have to pay 90% of all their income as association and guild dues. (Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Sky my beloved).

Fun fact: If gen IV had made a sound type and only given it to Chatot, Kricketune, Chingling/Chimecho, and Bronzong, it would still have added more sound types than fire types.
