I can see that they want to cover their positions as in, they want to make sure if injuries do occur he’s the most adaptable. Olmos able to replace Pedri, lewa, gundo, if needed. With a winger u have that position covered but what’s the winger with a poor midfield full of injury. They focused on adaptability not enhancement.

I totally agree but rn he is a good signing as all of main CAM other than Gundo are out. Fermin will return probably a month later, Gavi and Pedri are both injured so Gundo and Dani Olmo can help Barca create chances.

The reason Barca signed Olmo was that the Nico deal fell out and Olmo was actually interested in signing for Barcelona
Flick also said that he did not need a defensive midfielder as he was quite satisfied with La Masia players in that position
In that situation Olmo was the best alternative to Nico. He also is a regular goal threat which Barca really need rn
They still should prioritise a pure winger in Chiesa who will be cheap
