Having been born in Belfast In The 1970s Into a Protestant family - but being raised and now living in South Africa 🇿🇦 this podcast has given me a real perspective on what the Catholic people of Northern Ireland really had to endure over that dark period. Sam Millar is a brilliant story teller and an amazing man. Thanks again for another great podcast James - keep them coming.

This is an elite interview. Not just for the topics covered but for the professionalism. Minimal questions and letting the guest speak freely.

Just listening to Sam about the H Blocks and it really saddens me. My Granda, Vol Teddy Campbell, was a political prisoner and died in Kesh H Blocks in 1974. I never got to know him but the older I get I'm very proud of him. He fought for what he believed in. Great interview James.

My grandfather was killed in McGurks bar and the family have and still are fighting for the truth. The ripple effect was to consolidate the families rage against the British Government. I grew up in the 70's was 13 during the hunger strikes, I laugh at soldiers having done a "tour" in NI which was 6mths and went home to a "normal" life and had PTSD, I say THIS WAS MY WHOLE CHILDHOOD

This is been absolutely fascinating and the best thing I've seen and heard in 2022. as a kid growing up in the 70 and 80s make you realise how grim that era was compared to the 90s and later. No one of my generation will have forgotten Bobby Sands.

I don't use the word legend lightly but my good lord what a story and what a legend he is, one of the best podcasts I've ever listened to, you really let him tell his story and didn't unnecessarily interject.
