We learned in grade school that the reason why they don't get shocked is that electricty will flow along the shortest route, and that going up into the bird would be a "detour" for the electrical flow, as opposed to just flowing straight through the wire.

Well the birds feet is made up of bone which cant get shocked but if you touch 2 wires with high and low currents they transfer that energy to yoy
