The director of the Stimson Center’s China Program, Yun Sun, says the Ukraine crisis is a test of “U.S. resolve and willingness to get militarily involved in a military crisis that’s far away from the U.S. homeland.”

Don't forget that this is a tactic to split the forces between two fronts. That's why they talked beforehand. But the US never treated Asia like it did Europe. They fought Germany very differently than Japan because they had different people and strategies for each one. Not that they didn't consult others, but they had different tactics. You can't guess what will happen in Asia from what happens in Ukraine. Bad idea....
