▪️Milk & cucumber
Milk can cause gentle exfoliation and is moisturising on the skin. Cucumber is soothing .
This can be used on whole face or on problematic areas. Apply it , leaves it on for 10 mins & wash it off with room temperature water.
▪️Lemon rub on face or lemon juice on face
This is an absolute no-no. It sensitises the skin to effects of the sun and makes skin more prone to sun burn and tanning.
▪️Papaya & curd pack
Papaya helps in reducing dullness on the skin. You can make a paste of ripe papaya and curd & apply it on the whole face. Leave it in for 20 mins & wash it off. Skin will appear soft, smoother and moisturised.
▪️Cold green tea bags for under eye
Green tea contains EGCG or epigallocatechin gallate . It has anti inflammatory & antioxidant properties. The cool temperature of frozen tea bags reduce puffiness under the eyes & green tea helps in soothing the skin.
Use it for 10 mins in the morning time.
▪️Multani mitti pack for oily skin ( 8-9)
Multani mitti or fullers earth helps in adsorbing oil. It reduces skin oiliness & temporarily shrinks pores. Mix Multani mitti with water or rose water. Add a few drops of glycerine & let it sit on the skin for 20 mins. When it is 60-70 % dry, wash the mask off with cool water. This can be used one a week.
▪️Baking soda for underarms
Baking soda or sodium bicarbonate is a strong base. It can cause burns in the skin & lead to darkening of skin or permanent scarring . Please do not use it on the skin. It might help someone but it is not worth taking the risk.
▪️Aloe Vera on acne
Aloe Vera is very popular for its ubiquitous nature and soothing properties. It is anti inflammatory & helps in reducing redness. It can help in soothing acne or sensitive skin. Is aloe vera a good moisturiser? No. Can it be used on the face to soothe irritation ? Yes. Remember that you can be allergic to aloe vera as well like any other skin care ingredient.
