How Diverse is India?

For those of us outside of South Asia, our view of India can be somewhat monotonous. What I mean by this is that we often think of Hindi-speaking North Indian culture as being representative of all of India, even though-- as this video shows-- that is very much not the case.

You missed to mention one point though. States in India are largely based on language like Tamil Nadu for Tamil, Bengal for Bengali, Punjab for Punjabi, Gujarat for Gujarati, Odisha for Odiya etc.

There's a quote "India is a continent masquerading as a country".

00:15 it's sad to see the sacred symbol of a religion being censored just because Nazis used it.

I lolled at the kannada Canada comparison. And the East India DLR station because I am from East India and now live near East India. If you know what I mean.

As an Indian, I realized how diverse India is after seeing how homogenous Europe is. Went to Portugal for exchange. In our class, all were Portuguese except 1 Norwegian and me. The teacher was comparing our class to UN and telling how diverse our class was. I was confused coz my class in India full of Indians was way more diverse in terms of language, religion and skin colour

I had no idea about the other "ollywoods!" In a video jampacked with cool facts, that was one of my favorites.

Surprisingly, India Uses Quasi(Semi)-Federalism. Countries Like USA, CANADA, GERMANY, UK, SPAIN, ITALY Etc are more decentralized than India.

India and the EU are both similar in size, both divided up by ethnolinguistic groups, and both extremely diverse subcontinents. The difference is the EU is broken up into different countries under one union whereas India is broken up into different states under one country.

I often forget how massive India is. I should do something involving Hindu soon although it's a bit overwhelming. How'd you manage to cover and research this country despite how overwhelming it is?

Oh and congrats on the sponsorship!

Compare the diversity of India like entire Europe.
India is like a continent, not by size in area but by the volume of diversity.

28 states and 9 union territories now. Jammu and Kashmir was divided into 2 separate union territories - Ladakh and J&K.
