AFO Fire Ball Generator Shed Fire Suppression System Review

In this video I test out an AFO Fire ball - fire extinguisher in a simulated gas fire. The purpose is to see if it will be a good fire suppression system for my home made generator shed just in case something goes wrong. Let me know what you think in the comments below. If you would like to see the generator shed build videos, see the links below. This product would also work good in marine applications or limited RV use as well.

In the test run the fuse is what reignited the fire inside the box, and that was outside the box, so your test worked. Enclosed areas are the best for these. I have three in my house.

We tested various "balls" from different manufacturers. Under 100 % same conditions they all react the same way. In this case, there was still "heat" outside the box to re-ignite the fire(Even Elide would have failed here--seen it in our own tests). We find that, out in the open, this "failure' happens to all of them. But in a confined enclosure its a total different story. Same as one would try to put out a fire with just one extinguisher and it is too small. The balls act two-fold. first suppress rather then put out the fire, secondly, the loud bang acts like a fire alarm. One get now the bigger 4 and 6 kg balls and they quite potent. Still, the powder need to reach the fire actually. Same with large kitchens where K-type Extinguishers is recommended. Normally fires start when nobody is around and the "balls" can play a significant role here. First Alarm, and secondly suppress till one can get in with a K type extinguisher. Far less damage then when a sprinkler system is activated. Then with all the water damage its best to let it just burn all out and let the insurance deal with it, instead of trying to clean that mess up.

Great video. I think you would need a few just to be o the safe side.

I did notice in the Elide video they used 2 fire balls, I'm interested in why you only used one for the same demonstration?

I saw a demo between Elidefire Fire Ball and an AFO Fire Ball. They tried an AFO first and the fire Reignited. then they put in their Elidefire And it extinguished the fire completely.

_"Don't try this at home."_ .. OK, I'll go to my neighbor's house to do it.

You need 2 balls depending on the mass or volume of the risks vs a small ball 🏀 is not even or a fair fight to extinguish it

might aswell just spend a little more money for one of those automatic fire extinguishers?

I'd say don't use these. There was a news story and some firefighters tried it- (it's on youtube somewhere- type in "AFO try it before you buy it" or something like that- and it didn't work there either.

I'd try that other maker, that Eldie or Elide one- seems to work better, just my 2 cents. AFO- they're cheap for a reason. If you could man, could you get one of those Elide ones and do this again? That would prove it for a lot of ppl on the youtube which is better

Try the genuine Elide. AFO is a cheap knock off.
