Best Value Phone of 2019? | Meet the TCL Plex

Hands-on review with the TCL Plex, a budget-friendly smartphone boasting a triple-lens camera (including a dedicated night lens), large capacity battery and a punchy HDR-ready screen. All for just $329, making this one of the most impressive cheap mobiles launched at IFA 2019.

That 6.53-inch Nxtvision display is a definite highlight of the Plex phone. That Full HD+ resolution means surprisingly sharp visuals considering the size, while the tiny pinhole selfie camera is barely an intrusion - although TCL has unfortunately elected to call it a ‘dotch’. Video can be upscaled from SDR to HDR, although the likes of HDR10 content isn't supported.

Android Pie has been spruced up with the TCL UI, which ditches the apps drawer but adds features like a one handed mode and widgets page to the Plex. Performance seems smooth enough with the Snapdragon 675 platform, helped by 6GB RAM - not bad specs for the price. And the near-4000mAh battery should keep you going all day.

However, it's the triple lens camera which I'm most intrigued to test out. Check back later, hopefully I can bring you a full TCL Plex review so you can see if this really is one of the top budget smartphones of 2019!

Back in 1999. A big brick like device with an antenna.. Back then incoming calls were chargeable too... Now even outgoing call is free here!

you should really compare it(specially camera) vs xiaomi offerings and even oppo.I had TCL phone 5 years ago and it was one of the best in some areas even compared to chinese competitors.

Im a long time Huawei user and love Huawei. Was going to buy the P30 Lite NE but then I saw this one and im buying it today. I am still using my huawei p9 lite that I bough in July 2016 and I love it but I want to change a bit so going for this one. May go for the black one.

TCL has a huge presence in the US in form of TVs. They sponsor neymar the football/soccer player as well as the Minnesota timberwolves. They are carried in basically every big box store here in the US.

Alcatel are basically a budget version of Nokia, if that's even possible lol, I bought an Alcatel 3V once, awful phone kept lagging and the camera was useless, sold it and got a phone by a company called Bluboo instead, which has dual rear cameras 16mp glass back and aluminum frame plus a curved HD display for £100

For this price you can get a refurbed of g7 or of you want new you can get mi9 se for a bit less. If your budget can stretch more you can get the k20 (pro) otherwise known as mi 9t

Not sure about tcl phones but Tv Yeah got 3 of them very happy with the tvs super cheap for the quality of the tvs I'll probably wait a bit for the phone
