The C-Step made me think of a video from Jeff Anderson of "Warrior Life", it's because of him of know of you Matt.
In his video he demonstrates a multiple attacker scenario where one assailant is behind him and has locked both arms behind his back in order to restrain to allow another assailant to attack him, He uses C-Step in question to quickly break free from restraint as to allow him to deal with other assailants.
Yes it made me laugh when Jeff used the word "Snoogies" knowing the context.
Also I wonder if using the C-Step in question might be a possible solution against a standing rear naked choke?

The straight arm lock looks devastating because the way your hands are positioned it's like a kimura or an americana but it's like a straight arm bar too so it probably really hurts

What if the attacker interlocks the hands in a hook way instead of cross fingers lock as shown?

1& 3 cool, #2 his left arm is free to strike your head

All those options would get you on the ground under me and you would be in a much worse position in my full nelson
