Thank you Mr. Pete, my Youtube shop teacher! My father was born in 1918, the youngest of 6 boys, and future brother to 4 sisters.... a typical rural agricultural family. no FBI type agency existed in Canada, until recent times. However, experimentation in ballistics did create a good number of stories. For example, if you make a lead slug about 4 inches long, then stuff more blackpowder than necessary into a black powder 12 bore shotgun, the slug will exit the barrel forward about 10 feet, and your brothers goes in the opposite direction about 20 feet... that ended ballistics experimentation on the farm...lol.

Oh man! Good stuff. I was playing hooky from church one Sunday morning and a Gallup Poll guy showed up. We spent 90 minutes taking a survey about non-commercial Christian ministries. Great time of the week to get an "impartial" view point. At the end, we wrapped up with the last question, "Where do you work?" "Oh, I work for a non-commercial Christian radio station." His smile just faded away into incredulity. I continue to have ZERO confidence in polling. Mr. Pete, we be mates.

I was raised in the military and spent a good part of my working career with the state government. The only trust I have in the government is in their ability to make life hard for everyone but themselves!

2 Things. First, these stories are AWESOME! I love hearing this sort of thing. Second, this is a real eye opener about just how long the US government has been traveling down the road of tyranny. It's easy for someone to think that it's a recent development, but it's clearly been a slow steady march.

Please don't keep this anecdotes as short as possible (as you said) but as long as possible 🙂 And of course I would definitely like to hear more. Thank you, Mr. Pete.

Great story Mr Pete keep them coming. BTW in 1956 you could buy a military surplus M1 rifle in the local hardware store and they had dozens of them. This was in Binghamton, NY.

When my brother was near graduation with a degree in electical engineering, only a few companies were were interviewing on campus looking for engineers at the time. One of them was the CIA, so my brother had an interview with them. Subsequently, we noticed plain jane Ford sedans parked down the street, apparently watching our house. They interviewed all the neighbors to see what they could dig up on my brother and eventually they came and interviewed me at work while I was working in a gas station. The only question I remember was 'do you think your brother still wants to work for the CIA?' I responded with 'I don't know, why don't you ask him?'. This background investigation took months and they never once contacted him after the interview. Ultimately, they offered him a job, but by then, he had accepted a job with someone else.

You were talking about having only a drill and a file. I was always building something as a child. I used to make bird houses from a coffee can and I would saw out a wooden end for the can using a coping saw. Later I started using my dads jig saw which was the only power tool he had. My dad was a truck driver and often out on the road. I was only about 5 years old and I made a high chair for my sisters doll out of wood by using the jig saw. It was a little wobbly but I wish I had a picture of it today. Now today we have a whole shop full of power tools for my son to build with. 2 lathes, 4 milling machines, bandsaws, drill presses, gear hobber, welder, torches and a whole bunch of goodies. Times have changed.

Yes!!! Thank you Mr. Pete! I hope there are many more to come! I've been watching your channel since 2014 and have often pondered about your root experiences and what has shaped you along the way. Among your many talents, you are also a great storyteller.

I had a Census Bureau agent show up to my house because I refused to respond to the American Community Survey (ACS) they sent out (probably 5 times). We were out back swimming but she left a note. Needless to say I was livid and gave her an earful when I called the next day. The ACS is far too intrusive - asking about finances and such - and is not authorized by the Constitution.

At age 13(early 70's) while cleaning my 22 Remington rifle I broke the stub from the receiver that holds the trigger assembly. I older machinist friend repaired it for me but it needed filed for fitting. I had to file a lot to make it fit. Our local mall had recently opened and I had the small receiver and a small rat file setting on a bench working on it. Didn't think anyone would know what it was. Security guard asked if it was a gun and I said only a part and he told me to put it away. The next day an ATF agent was at my house questioning me with my dad. Although no trouble with the agent, my dad learned I had broke my rifle and that is where I got my trouble.
