In 2008 I bought an aquarium fish at the pet store for my aquarium. At the pet store they said it will life 5 years max. It is 2024 now, and it is still swimming happily in my aquarium and bringing everyone joy, especially our cat. Our cat loves to watch when we feed feed the fish, cat TV.

I got a turtle in college, now it's 30 and I'm 50. It's like having a life-long friend.

I randomly got a turtle one night while out drinking with friends when I was 20. I woke up the next morning and realized that I had bought an animal with a 40 year lifespan. My grandkids will meet this turtle someday.

This is a blessing never a curse, having owned rats in which their life expectancy is 2-4 years… let me tell you it is true and utter heartbreak to see and connect to them from tiny babies to old granny/grandpa rats between in 2 years time. Hug your babies close and hope they live long lives…. I always say I will have animals until the day I leave this earth but they will be in my will and I’ll be sure that they are in good hands, whoever they may be!

Ducks are great. I remember a lady as a kid who had her father's parrot she was 85. Her father brought it back from Cuba in 1910.

Something about knowing that my pet turtle that we had to give to a turtle specialist so he wouldnt be lonely is still most likely alive makes me really happy
