I’m one year older than Juliette Lewis. I saw this movie in the theaters at when I was around 19-20yrs and I remember being totally attracted to her, loved the underwear scene, was horrified how both her father and Max treated her.

One of those 'too real' nightmare scenarios for a parent. Danielle is, almost unknowingly, being the ultimate defiant, provocative teenager by smirking at Sam about this but she doesn't realise the abuse and manipulation she's suffered or the damage intended on the family as a whole. Nolte's acting really cements the potency of the unbearable nastiness a scene like this carries in a movie, let alone how bad it would be in real life.

I actually met Juliette Lewis back in August. She was so awesome, my friend had me skip the line and the girl who was collecting the money yelled at me for skipping and Juliette told her that it was ok because she saw that I was being called over by my friend

What I don't like about this scene is how Sam loses his temper with her daughter. I know he was just trying to get an answer from her, but there were like a million other ways he could have done that.
