Hemoglobin A1c, HbA1c is a common lab test that reflects blood sugar values for the prior 60-90 days. But it can also provide insight into the rate at which you are aging.

About Dr. Davis, Wheat Belly and Undoctored:
Dr. Davis practiced conventional cardiology for 25 years but became discouraged with the predatory and exploitative practices of modern healthcare. He now devotes his efforts to helping people regain magnificent health without doctors or hospitals with results that are SUPERIOR to that obtained through conventional healthcare. His Wheat Belly books have sole 4 million copies in 40 countries.

We draw from the health information of the world, collaborate, share experiences, collect data, and show how to apply new health tools to achieve levels of health that you may have thought unattainable. We do all this at a time when conventional healthcare costs have become crippling.

Dr. Davis, I have read your books and wish you would write one specifically dedicated to diabetes. It was your original Wheat Belly book that woke me up to the dangers of consuming wheat and led to a weight loss over 100 pounds, accompanied by reversal of type 2 diabetes.

Wow. Thank you. What a generous human being you are to take your time to teach us. I will buy your books.

If HbA1c is the average over 60-90 days, it wouldn't take "many months" for the moving average to come down. If you were to completely change your diet and habits, after 60-90 days the pre-change numbers would be gone. So "many months" mentiond at 5:05 should be "2 to 3 months" -- assuming the person does all of the interventions at once. In any case, when doctors say 5.7 is fine -- that's nuts.

So true. My mother eats a lot of quick carbs (bread, potato, rice) and she has a problem with weight, eyes (cataract on both eyes), joints are aching, etc. And she is just above 60 years old. While my father eats some bread and potato (but not as much as my mother), but he also eats a lot of fish (wild salmon, river fish, etc.). He is a fishermen and he loves to eat fish every day. He is the same age as my mother, but his eyes are clean, teeth are very good, he is active, can go long walks.
I can see how too much sugar in my mother's blood damaged her health. But I cannot convince her to change her dietary habits. :(

Reading your book now, can you comment or make a video on visceral fat sending out false signals to confuse hormones and disrupt cell communication? Excellent book, thanks

I had those brown spots around my ankles. Disappeared after controlling BG on keto diet. Also I agree a1c should be 5.0 to be out of danger. T2D is not "cured" unless you are down to the 5.0 range. 5.8 not good enough.

A couple of years ago I stopped getting that time of the month. My A1c jumped up to about 5.8%. Then, I gave blood and, had it tested within 2 weeks of giving blood. It was on the floor - 4.8%. I now believe that premenopausal women need to have a much lower a1c. Their numbers are unusually low given the fact that they bleed every 24 days and lose glycated cells. So a1c is not accurate for premenopausal women. My a1c was always around 5.5% before I stopped periods-- I shudder to think I very well could have been prediabetic and had no idea.. this is a massive loophole that women need to be told about.

Keto/Carnivore for about 5 years. A1C never came down. It's 6.2 last time I checked. I've made the reuteri yogurt but it smells like old barf. Why doesn't it have that tart and tangy smell?

Dr Davis. My endo doctor informed me a1c of 6.0 was ideal for nutrition of brain and heart. Max value of 5.7 was just upper end of average not best. Now you say to get it under 5.0. So why does that difference appear for a1c?
