Furniture Consignment Stores.. Selling Storage Unit Inventory

There’s so many ways to make money from storage units and one of those is consignment retail stores. Remember most of us don’t have brick and mortar thrift stores and also most of us don’t have a lot of space and one way to make great money and also freeing up more space is to utilize consignment stores for your bigger bulkier items especially furniture.

A lot of consignment stores also do jewelry and other items. The appeal here is yes you are taking a little less profit because of their fees but you’re gaining space and also foot traffic. Which should equal your items selling quicker.

I would recommend getting the phone number of one of the employees at the consignment stores so that way if you think you have a great furniture piece you can send them pictures to see if they’re interested before, so you don’t have to waste time delivering it to the store if they’re not willing to take that particular item. Not all consignment stores will take absolutely everything.

Also keep in mind most consignment stores set their own prices but don’t get too caught up in this because they know their market they know their customers and more importantly you did get it out of a storage unit which means you probably didn’t pay much considering how much stuff you find in the storage units based on what you paid.

Remember this business relies a lot on cash flow you need to sell your items you cannot hoard your items. Now of course if you’ve got something that’s extremely rare or worth a lot of money don’t sell it cheap just to get the money quickly you need to get good at selling the cheaper mid range items and getting top dollar for the more expensive items.
But that rule may not apply if you have furniture based on the space that you have so you may have to rely on consignment stores.
Also one last example I have this beautiful dresser that was probably a $2000 solid wood dresser I’ve had it online selling it myself for the last 4 months my point here is sometimes even if you have fantastic furniture pieces some of those will do better with areas of foot traffic because people need physically see and touch them in person. So, I probably should have took a little less money saved space and sold it quicker at a consignment store because it is a big bulky item, and my space is limited.
