Wuhan a year after the emergence of the Covid virus

It's almost a year since the Chinese city of Wuhan was plunged into an unprecedented lockdown when people began getting sick and dying from an unknown virus, named Covid-19.

The outbreak sparked a global pandemic - to devastating effect.

A year later and life in Wuhan is relatively normal, the crowds and the bustling commercial activity are back.

And along with it, an effort to change the narrative on where the virus came from.

Yvonne Murray, who works for the Irish broadcaster RTE, has filmed this special report for us.

Every once in a while, some bad propaganda reminds us why we go to school, learn, and think for ourselves. Channel 4 doesn't always make terrible propagandas, but this is low.

Anything on itself can be framed in a gross fashion. In the case of Covid, we have plentiful of comparison cases. Fighting this pandemic is not about any kind of superiority. But on the basis of performance from many facets (yes, pandemic is a multi-facet issue, unlike this video), we can see how things are for ourselves.

Wuhan, like every city in the world, is not perfect. Its institutions aren't perfect and make mistakes. Heck, with Wuhan giving a month notice to the world, look at where we are now. While many UK central gov officials refused to admit that there were any mistakes they have made (unlike its Scottish counterparts), Wuhan had a complete government shakeup to address those misconducts.

"Success" in tackling a pandemic that brought so many countries to its knees is not unusual. The S Koreans are proud. The New Zealanders are proud. The Chinese are proud. Even the Trump administration and the Boris gov are proud.
