From portraits to obstacle courses, we take a look at all the times contestants had a task involving bins. No bins were harmed in the making of this video.

In this Broadcast Award-winning, BAFTA and Emmy Award-nominated entertainment show, Taskmaster tyrant Greg Davies (Man Down, Cuckoo), with the help of his loyal assistant Alex Horne (The Horne Section and the show’s creator), sets out to test the wiles, wit and wisdom of five hyper-competitive comedians.

Comedians that have risked life, limb, and dignity in the hope of making the Taskmaster proud so far include: Frank Skinner (The Frank Skinner Show), Mel Giedroyc (The Great British Bake Off), Romesh Ranganathan (Asian Provocateur), Hugh Dennis (Outnumbered), Sally Phillips (Bridget Jones’ Diary), Rose Matafeo (Edinburgh Comedy Award Winner 2018), and Russell Howard (The Russell Howard Hour). Unaware of what awaits them in each wax-sealed envelope, only one competitor can become the victorious owner of His Royal Task-ness’ golden head and be crowned the next Taskmaster Champion.

The look of genuine concern on Alex's face and how he moves forward to look when James "reads" out the task about putting him in the bin is amazing. That followed by all three of the men running away from Alex might be one of the greatest 1-2 punches in TM history.

Sometimes James is a complete genius, and then sometimes... he does stuff like the fence and bin task. So delightfully inconsistent, I love him!!!

James looking through the fence, seeing the bin and still pointing out its “general area” completely wrong is one of the simplest but funniest moments of that whole series

the fact that three separate contestants had the idea of “if the time doesn’t start until Alex touches me on the shoulder, i’m just gonna run” is a prime example of the genius and insanity this show recruits

As a French Canadian who recently discovered taskmaster and consumes the series one after the other, I must admit that I really loved it when Hugh and Mel did their task in French. C'était adorable!

Mel Giedroyc's French is very good and she was right: in French, Hugh is pronounced just as she did.

The french for Hugh is definitely how she pronounced it. Never heard a French person say it differently. And I'm as french as one can be :)

The french part was hilarious to watch as a french person. Also, Hugh is indeed pronounced "Hugues", so she was right, because we mispronounce it here.
