Diver Finds 900-Year-Old Knight’s Sword

A diver off Israel’s coast recently made a remarkable discovery: an ancient sword. The three-foot-long iron blade is about 900 years old. Experts plan to clean and X-ray the barnacle-encrusted weapon, in hopes of learning more about it. Yaakov Sharvit of the Israel Antiquities Authority told CBS News, "Maybe there is a name written on it, maybe there is a decoration and that will also give us more information about the knight who held this beautiful sword."

I hope the diver was well recompensed, because normally the government takes discoveries like this without giving anything to the discoverer, because every object discover is property of the government. Once my dad found a cave full of Caribbean ancestral objects and sadly he went to a place own by the state to see how much he can receive and they take the items from him, without any reward. He was unable to keep anything, because of them.

It’s an arming sword similar to the ones used by the Norman soldiers in Europe and during the crusades and the timeline fits (900 years ago ), it probably fell off the boat carrying the crusaders and didn’t see much action, what a great find.
