Thanks Tim,
I bought this framing nailer from your Castle Hill (NSW) store just a couple of weeks ago. I cannot believe with the evolution of the brushless motor just how much power this gun delivers to drive in 3.5 inch nails.
I thought an air compressor or Paslode gas cartridges were the only way to stay nimble enough to crawl over a roof!

Best nailers out there imo, less bulky, you can service it yourself and powerful.

strangely this type 3 is almost $300 less than the type 2 on sale at the moment, only has the one 5ah battery vs the 2x5.5ah in the current package but taking away $149 it's still way cheaper. I like the idea because I can service it myself, the hikoki, being more powerful, means refilling some time when it loses its gas/air fill.

I have this gun for about 3yrs it's quite good 😆 great addition to kit!
Is the dcn690 more powerful btw ?

Currently, Metabo framing nailers are where it's at. We have four and have only sent one in for repair after a year (one of our guys accidentally shot into an 1/8" steel strap). With the DeWalts we had two and they were sent in for repairs multiple times each in about 6-7 months. That is pretty disappoint since my tools are 90% DeWalt.

I'm interested to know the specific differences between the Gen 1, Gen 2, and Gen 3 framing nailers. How can a person be certain they are buying a generation 3 nailer?

The DeWalt belt hook is rubbish! Flimsy and wrong angle so it feels like it will fall easily

A lot of people say bad things about this gun. Is the type 3 a game changer?

In my opinion the dcn692 type 2 is a nightmare, constant nail jams, not tried the type 3 to be fair.
I have a dcn690 which is 7 years old roughly and the thing is bomb proof, buy one of those if you have the chance over a dcn692.

What a waste of money and time. Dewalt nailer type 2 is a failure so is type 3. I have two broken solenoid units already and they are like 200€ per unit. First go waranty but second is on me... Jamming whit this shit is common and jam release is useles because u have to loose screws anyway with hexacon key. Do not buy this tool!!! I do formwork carpentry.
