I was raised in Florida and lived there for nearly 3.5 decades. Always lived within short driving distance and/or even walking distance from the ocean. Mixed memories as major family tragedies hit close together and within the first few months of moving to Florida. I stuck it out and moved to the Carolinas nearly 3 decades ago. Bought one house in a fast growing community back in the mid '70s for $43, 900 - sold in 1980 for $57, 500. Same home is in the $350, 000 range now.

Senior Services in Florida? Forget it. I've already tried to get every agency imaginable involved in a 'disaster' some relatives brought onto themselves. Nothing I could do unless I paid an attorney 5 figures and an untold amount to a PI. I'm now a homebody who discovered mobile home living. I live in a small retirement community in my long paid for single wide mobile home - children and grandchildren live within a 3 hour radius. Florida is just a memory for me.

I am currently burning through my 40s and This is no time to taper retirement savings. I want to max out my retirement funding and I also have another $200k in a savings account that i want to invest in a non-retirement account.Would it be better going to housing? Maybe own property and let it till im ready to move in at 65.

You are one of the best salesman I've ever seen, because you are nothing but honest, most people aren't use to hearing it.

Be careful about HOAs. They can be a huge monthly expense plus you have to fund their special projects as well.

I used to sell homes in PA. I noticed something going back 13 years, and that was most people that were selling their homes to move to FL, almost always, no lie, moved back to PA within a year or two.

Not sure why people always think they have to buy a home. Renting is so much easier. Haven't made a trip to a home depot since I sold my home 4 years ago. I can practically pack up any day and go anywhere I want; not having to worry about paying ridiculous realtor fees when selling or all those fees when acquiring one.

In Florida you hold your breath from June til November hoping this isn't the year you lose everything to a hurricane like we did last year here in Ft Myers

As a Floridian, please keep these videos coming. We don't need more immigrants. My home has appreciated 1000% in the time I have lived here. My property tax is $4000/yr. on a 1.5M home that I homesteaded in 1985.
Last year a crazy woman stole a small boat with a dog in it (not her's) and was paddling across the bay using a snow shovel as an oar. The first comment on the neighborhood app was: "What's a snow shovel?"

I moved to FL from NH because my extended family has been here since the 70s. I wish I had found this channel before we moved our lives here.

Thank you for MAKING us think. LOL. I know that sounds funny, but it's real. We tend to believe anything we want to hear now-a-days, and not reality or the truth. I love how you are honest and dedicated to everything you do. Funny, I spent a lot of time at the beach and in the sun (sports), so beaches do nothing for me, and since I taught Golf, Tennis and Pickle Ball for 17 years, I stopped even playing those sports in 2021 when I retired. I may play them again, but when you do it 6 days a week for that long.... That said, I am lost as to where to retire. I like rutal, but not Dollar Tree Rural. LOL. Another GEM, Jerry.

The problem w condos. Find one you like, buy it and two years later, get hit with assessment for tens of thousands of dollars for new roof, other stuff in need of repairs

Florida is Long Island in a microwave! Except for winter. Everything you hate about NY like taxes, crowds, traffic, costs and New Yorkers are all here.

Myrtle Beach, SC is a mixed bag. It has super nice gated communities and some run down rat holes. It has super wealthy people and some real low life people. If you live in the nice gated communities with country clubs, pools, etc. it is one of the nicest places I have been in the USA. If you live near the downtown area, it is really redneck with people revving engines in monster trucks and Harley Davidson motorcycles on the main drag.

Informative and factual and its great seeing this reallator skimming off the massive Florida exit. I am a former Florida Carcker who can remember when Ron Jons surf shop wasn't even on the beach side and back in the 60s we used to ride our horses all over Cocoa beach to Cape Canaveral; at one time the Cape was uninhabited and only had a half dozen buildings or Naval\Coast Guard facilities. When Dysney came in it ruined what most will never know, The Real Florida.
