My Sharpening Setup

I recently changed my sharpening routine from a completely freehand one, to a somewhat freehand sharpening routine using the ruler trick made popular by David Charlesworth and Rob Cosman.

I've been getting great results, and I thought I'd give a quick look at what my sharpening station looks like and how I get my edge back up to sharp so I can then get back to working some wood!

word of caution! About fifty years ago, I tried to rebuild a carburetor and used simple green to clean it over night. The next morning, there wasn't much left to work with. That stuff is harsh.

Hi Andrew. I am fairly new to your channel and enjoyed your video on your sharpening station. Now like I said I am fairly new and also saw your chisel video on the Stanley American dream chisels. I think that I am getting a set plus the extra like that for my new found hobby of using hand tools for the vast majority of my projects. Anyway do you have a video on flattening the back of the chisels and then sharpening them. Thank you for any information you can pass on. If you already have a video on that tell me to keep looking and I will. PS Thanks for the tip on Zoro.com. It's another toy store to visit.

Muito bem explicado os vídeos, mas sentidos muita falta de uma tradução em português!!!

The ruler trick is wasted on the "ultra fine" diamond which is only about 1200 grit. The point is you can spend just seconds on a very high grit stone/sharpening media because only a small strip is being removed.
