The Canon R8 IS OUT! The R8 is the perfect combination of performance and value. It's essentially the internals of the more expensive Canon R6 mkii but scaled down into a smaller more affordable body.

It's basically the R6 II in an RP body with a few compromises

Single card slot, and no joy stick are also notable. Love your content!

IBIS is 20 year old technology, and one of the biggest improvements to modern mirrorless cameras. Look at what OM System can accomplish with it. No way I'd go without it unless you only shoot from a tripod.

If it still works just as well for photography, I'll look into it. I don't plan on doing videos like you are, I just want to do photos.

Reminds me of what Fuji has done with the X-S10 as a scale down of the X-T4. Just that the X-S10 also has IBIS.
I think it's great that they make scale down versions that don't make too many compromises but cost a lot less. Great for beginners or people who don't have a months salary to spend on their camera 😅

1000 extra dollars for a bigger battery a small dial and stabilisation HELL NAW

No Ibis is in certain cases a feature for a camera. Is a moving part that doesn't break in extreme environments and usage.

This camera sounds like a really nice deal for less professional shooters. But the lack of Ibis is pretty unfortunate

Hi,

Your content is always great—I’m a huge fan of yours!

I recently started photography, specializing in birthday and maternity shoots. Currently, I’m using the Canon R50, but I’m looking to upgrade. I’m torn between the Canon R7 and R8—could you please share your thoughts on which one I should choose?

Thank you in advance!

So R6 mark II the better choice?
Then what 3 lens for all basis?
The pro lenses for use of better word each cost more than the camera body

I have a Canon 6D right now. I want to upgrade. I'd like to probably go mirrorless just not sure what to get. I'm just a hobbiest. I'm also thinking of keeping my 6D and upgrading my ef lenses to L series lenses. What would you recommend? I most shoot close up pictures of things (not macro necessarily), flowers, leaves, family, but also do some landscape stuff too.

IBIS is something I think about especially with my 16-35 and 24-70 f2.8 L canon lenses. But I love my r8, I also have a battery grip. But honestly I prefer to shoot with out it and just keep a spare battery in my pocket instead. I want to rent an r6 mk ii but im afraid I will just instantly decide to buy it lol.

Single SD Card, extra risk if used professionally especially for 1-time events that you cannot repeat... So mainly, this can be used casually or on semi-professional level only (events or shoots that can be repeated in an unforeseen scenario, like a corrupted SD).

I lowkey love my R8, I do 35mm mainly so I use my R8 to take composite photos.

So I see dealbreakers for using it as a backup for weddings, but is it small enough to justify getting one in addition to an R5 and an R6ii in order to have a personal, more portable camera? Or is it a negligible size difference and I'd probably find myself just bringing my R6ii on vacations?
