Hercules Table Saw Fence Will Not Lock???

I purchased this table saw during summer of 2022 and have only used it a few dozen times without issue. I was ripping 2x's today and noticed my 1.5" widths started to wander over 1.75"as if the fence wasn't locked in (which it was).

The jam nut on the threaded shaft connected to the latch wasn't tight and each time I engaged then disengaged the fence lock, I could see both nuts turning. I was able to turn both nuts by hand so I figured this was the culprit.

I backed off the jam nut completely, then 'unscrewed' the silver nut to run the threaded rod inwards, adding tension. When I got what I needed, I ran the jam nut back into the silver nut and using a 13mm wrench on each nut, snugged them together.

When the handle locks the fence in place now, niether nut spins, as intended.

Overall, I'm very pleased with this machine. Silly things like this are bound to happen on any brand, especially if it was built in the last 2 years when many manufacturing companies struggled with quality.

Thanks for watching!

This was a big help, thanks! I don't know why I didn't think to look here first... Another thing to look out for for others: if it's still not locking properly after tightening, look under the table past the spring and there are 2 pins that are being pulled by a couple swing arms through the locking mechanism to keep the fences in place. One swing arm for me had come off one of those pins. That and this tightening these nuts fixed it right up

This is a great table saw, not sure why there are so few people providing resources like this. Thanks again!

Very helpful! I've been using two clamps and a board to keep my fence in place which isn't doable for some of the cuts I make.
