What should you expect at your first personal training session? What's the best way to prepare?
Every trainer is different, but in general your first meeting will include:
- Filling out basic health forms (like a PAR-Q)
- Taking initial measurements
- Assessing your goals
- Completing a physical assessment
- Executing a sample workout
- Aligning on future plans and homework
Your first personal training session is also an opportunity to see how you connect with your instructor. More than anything else, you need rapport and comfort. Don't be afraid to try out several trainers until you find the one who "gets you."
