This is for those who love English, and/or those just studying for the GRE. Just for fun, give yourself a test of your advanced English vocabulary.

The GRE and GMAT are two of most used graduate exams for those seeking to study a Masters Degree or Masters in Business Administration (MBA) degree. The Graduate Record Exam and Graduate Management Admissions Test have been taken for over 50 years and are taken by approximately 600,000 and 300,000 people worldwide annually, respectively. These exams are typically taken between the ages of 18-40, by those who have completed, or are about to complete, their Bachelors Degree.

Just barely a month of focused GRE studies (after giving up on the GMAT), and I got 43 right, yippee ki-yay!

Anyways, regarding cursory, I believe the root is the latin word "cursor", meaning "a runner", from "cursus, currere, curro", "running".
So quick, hurried, hastily would be better fits vs fleeting, temporary. It literally means something is running.

Other close words might be related (in my own thoughts, may be incorrect):
1. Mouse/computer cursors,
2. Courier, who, in the past, actually runs from place to place
3. Precursor - forerunner, something that came before
4. Course - Route/path to walk over

all of which are closer to quick, hurried, run than to fleeting, temporary

Got 28 right. Not happy with my preparation at this point. Gutted because I too did that cursory one fleeting and temporary, the same as you 😅
