My name is Van, I am a Makeup Artist in NYC & owner of Artist Kit Company. I hope this video can help you with your kit condensing journey. Take your time, setting up your kit is not a race, there is no deadline & it's a never ending journey. As you develop as an artist, your kit will evolve with you. Don't worry about the noise and the trend. Do it at your own pace and do it correctly.

I developed major upper back problems as a Makeup Artist lifting heavy kits, doing makeup in poor posture. Your cervical spine can cause pain, numbness in your arm/hands, headache, vision problem and feeling fatigue. I wish we talk about this topic more often in the community but unfortunately I didn't think it was important till now.

This is why I decided to start Artist Kit Company to help people condense their kit and still carrying all the products they need.

Kit goals...one day. And I totally get every kit purpose is different. I do bridal and sometimes have 5-6 clients at a time, no touch up kits needed (unless I gift an individual to a bride). I currently have a brush bag from mykitco because I almost always have 6-7 sets of brushes per gig. I have a big MAC travel case that has a bunch of clear bags with velcro on one side and big pouches on the other that are protected by netting on top with individual zippers. I want to get rid of it and get a case like this. Just deciding how it will look as I've only depotted my lipsticks into a vueset palette otherwise everything else is in palettes and containers. Thanks for the inspo!!!!

Oh those sprays. You are kit goals. I’m going to consider using to the top for brushes. I usually keep brushes in a separate bag. For smaller jobs I should consider this. Thank you Van!

i relate so much to what you said about back problems from being a makeup artist. im pretty sure i did permanent damage to my back from the kit i used to travel with. i had one of those rolling kits and it weighed like 50 lbs. i downsized a few years ago and im still working on limiting myself to essentials
