This island in Subnautica is not what it seems. It’s a shocking site to come across this island in game as it’s the first and one of only a few landmasses you can find in the game’s oceanic world, and its even home to various structures, plants, and the always annoying cave crawler crabs. However, if you decide to dive below the island, you will see its true nature. You will see it isn’t connected to the ocean floor and is seemingly suspended at the surface, but we soon see why this is. The bottom of the island is filled with ancient floaters, which are giant versions of the floaters we can see lifting small rocks and this land mass is actually a piece of the ocean floor which was lifted to the surface by the ancient floaters and has grown an ecosystem over thousands of years. Such a cool world detail in subnautica.

I like to imagine that there are some ancient floaters somewhere on the planet, lifting up a huge piece of landmass, successfully making a real continent

These are the small things that really built immersion for me. The developers had no need to write a life cycle about these floaters, and to integrate them into the way the world is built

I Hope you can breed ancient floaters in the next game so you can possibly make your own floating Islands.

or even using them to cause landmasses to float above water.

there are so many mysteries about subnautica like ways to get power, and the amount of energy you get from certain flora and fauna.

So doing something like this in the next game shouldn't be too far fetched.

When I first found that island I immediately went underneath it and was shocked to see the floaters under it after seeing the other island first. I thought it was a cool detail too

I am surprised it stays in the same place right on the northern end of the Deep Grand Reef. You'd think it would have drifted away in the ocean current or something.

Its a floating island thanks to the ancient floaters beneath it though the island will slowly sink again its estimate is at least a billion years
