I work at McDonald’s, and if you saw the amount of plastic we use, it’s insane. We have boxes full of plastic cups, cup lids, trash bags, plastic utensils wrapped in a plastic bag, and tons of other various items. But for some reason the classic plastic McFlurry spoon was replaced with a reusable spoon to “cut down on plastic”. But obviously we can’t serve the reusable spoons… so guess what kind of spoon we serve to the customer now? Instead of the classic speciality McFlurry spoon, it’s just a basic plastic spoon, the kind you’d find in a party pack at the store. And guess what each spoon is individually wrapped in? More plastic.

Yes the root cause of most pollution is corporations. But corporations aren't just polluting for fun, our way of life is completely reliant on corporate pollution. Yes the solution is to regulate corporations, but that also means your life is going to have to change in big ways.

If there were dramatically less oil tankers out there polluting, but the same amount of people drove cars, gas prices would skyrocket. Every part of the system needs to be changed.

The plan is to shift the responsibility onto the individual so they are more concerned with changing their lifestyle and less concerned with changing policy, which would fuck BPs bottom line.
