Sure it's hotter now than compared to the abnormally cold 1970s. It's still below the average temperature if you go back 100 years. It was hotter in the 1890s, hotter in the 1910s and substantially hotter in the 1930s. They just know that disaster reporting gets the clicks and the grant money.
