Is it okay to eat the whole peanut unshelled? Asking for a friend…

Artichokes -- the ultimate party food. Gather around the table, take your time, buckets of butter and your favourite drink. Artichokes go perfectly with a few slices of rib eye roast and chunks of fresh baguette. Dip them in the butter too. I like this year's party. Ode to Alison. I'm there.

When I lived in Zimbabwe my parents would have artichoke dinner parties, where they would serve mountains of home grown artichokes with a buttery vinaigrette. It was heaven. I miss regular access to artichokes.

We had an artichoke bush growing up so I seriously relate! Also I am loving this “Alison’s guide to intimidating fancy foods” vibe and I would love to see more like this! Like how do I serve oysters at home?? That’s just the first one I can think of

Growing up in an Italian home, my mom used to make stuffed artichokes with seasoned breadcrumbs with butter and garlic. So good!!!! Love them!

Happy Belated Birthday Allison! Your kitchen is looking more lived in with each episode of Home Movies. The greenery you keep adding makes it look lush and alluring and the perfect backdrop for delectable, exquisite artichokes, although the apex was that magnificent salad! 😘🎉🥂🎂

Joining the chorus of Love of Artichokes... it was my birthday dinner growing up. My pop had a thing for hollandaise, so we had it with that. delish. I can't believe I never thought of using anchovies.. I also love a cold artichoke with mayo, capers, and lemon. Thank you, Alison, for lighting the way. And happy belated!

When we first married, almost 50 years ago, our splurge was artichokes dipped in lemon butter. I’d never heard of them before I married. I agree...a very sensual experience. Still love them all these years later.

I just wanna say I have that same pepper grinder and it is seriously amazing. I've never been so happy with a purchase in my life. One scrunch and it just dumps ground pepper. It's such a well made product I can see having for life.

edit: name of the grinder is called the Unicorn Mills 6" Magnum Pepper Mill. Originally heard about it from Kenji Lopez Alt.

When I lived in L.A. I used to make artichokes for my dog and me. She LOVED them. ( She was a top tooth artichoke scraper. ) You have such a wonderful channel and I love David too.

Belated happy birthday! You completely changed my opinion about chicken and sheet pan dishes! I never make artichoke even though I love the artichoke heart taste, because dad used to cook them, then we'd dip the leaves in mayonnaise.

I've been lazy and just bought marinated artichoke hearts. I can't remember if I've seen whole artichoke in a Danish supermarket (I'm Danish, Dad's American and I've lived with him in CA, but I live home in Denmark now) but if I see a whole artichoke in a supermarket, I'll definitely try this recipe and introduce my Danish husband and sons to something that's going to seem very exotic to them!

I realize this vid is old, but artichoke season is now, and when I purchased 2 chokes on a whim, I had to rewatch this. I was hoping my 6 yr old daughter would help prep, but the only prep she cared about was assembling a charcuterie board to go with. However, her enthusiasm for artichokes as a main course is now firmly established for life. Such a fun food to eat. And delicious. We had no hearts leftover to make that bonus salad. You may not have invented the steamed artichoke, but your expertise yet again makes something a bit daunting totally approachable, and that damn anchovy butter is brilliant. Thanks for another banger. And happy belated birthday :)

Wow, thank you for reminding me of a classic childhood dish that I had forgotten about in my adulthood. The only difference is my dad would make a little Mayo-based dipping sauce — I can’t remember exactly what was in it besides Mayo and lemon juice. Maybe also melted butter.

All that to say, I saw artichokes at the farmer’s market the other week and if they’re there again tomorrow, I will be buying 2, or maybe 4!
